Before I had the remarkable and unique opportunity to be part of Natural Awakenings, I worked as a registered nurse. I was fresh out of nursing school, bursting with new knowledge and nerves, and thirsting to learn more and to help people. I decided to launch my nursing career in the mental health field because I was passionate about shining light on the relationship between mental health and …well, everything.

I am blessed to have both a background in nursing and to be part of the Natural Awakenings team that educates the community about the integrative aspects of our health through a wholistic, natural and upstream approach.
In the month of November at Natural Awakenings Milwaukee, we are excited to share our Mental Wellness issue. It hones in on the interrelationships of mental, physical and spiritual wellness. We are proud to share so many services and resources, and it may be surprising to learn that they aren’t all just for physical health—they’re also for mental health and overall well-being!
Please check out the variety of articles—as well as the advertisers that keep our magazine’s motor running—and consider how many of them can help boost your mental wellness. For example, we may not intuitively link physical therapy and pelvic floor health, or dentistry and oral health, to our mental wellness. But being comfortable and pain-free with good posture, as well as having a healthy and attractive smile, undoubtedly contributes to confidence and self-esteem. So go ahead and look inside for the many resources that you may not have tried just yet that can help you feel less anxious, more balanced, pain-free and stress-free. Remember that mental wellness comes much more easily when we take care of ourselves physically. Here’s to feeling great!
