Steel Mace Foundations: an Ancient Workout Modernized
Jan 10, 2022 01:31PM ● By Jordan PeschekBeginning
in January, INVIVO Wellness will begin a six-week course called Steel Mace
Foundations. The class, which takes place at 6 p.m. each Thursday, is a
full-body workout for any and all fitness levels. The steel mace (also
known as a gada or club) dates to the 13th century and was used by
warriors to train and condition for battle. This modernized ancient practice
helps create core stability, coordination, endurance and an elevated mental
focus to empower confidence in all of life’s activities.
Each week, participants will perform drills that incorporate the steel mace into strength and conditioning exercises like squats, lunges, rows and presses in order to build strength, improve conditioning and generate power. Also taught are basic movements for the next level class, Steel Mace Swing Skills.
Robert McDonial, a certified personal trainer, approaches fitness by combining primal movements with resistance, along with other unique methods, to help his clients move and feel better.
Cost:
$20 per class. Location: 2060 N. Humboldt Ave., Milwaukee. For more information
