Treasures of Oz Eco Tour Celebrates Natural Gems of Ozaukee County
The Treasures of Oz 2020 Eco Tour will take place October 14 through 21. With a theme of Autumn Interlude, each site has been chosen for its fall colors, interesting topography, suitability for peaceful forest meditation and excellent walking trails. The extended date format makes social distancing easier.
For more information and to download a passport, visit TreasuresOfOz.org.
Participants begin by visiting the Treasures of Oz website to download a passport. Information is included on how to locate the key word for each site, to be copied onto the passport. Mailed or scanned and emailed passports with the key words written onto them allows for entry into a raffle to be held the following week. Raffle prizes will be gift cards to local eateries.
The website includes other information, such as shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) to make the most of quiet time in the woods. There are also links to the various organizations that are traditionally involved in this event so that participants can keep abreast of what is happening with green space throughout Ozaukee County. The kids and families participating in the Ozaukee County 4H Photography Project will document this year’s event by creating impressions of treasure sites before the event and checking in on the sites through-out the week.
Treasures of Oz Eco Tour is made possible this year through donations from Sweet Water, also known as Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trust. The event is a joint effort of the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust and Ozaukee County Planning and Parks.
