Nature Watercolor Course Offered at Schlitz Audubon Center

Nature lovers and artists can explore the basics of watercolor painting and find inspiration in a five-week course offered by the Schlitz Audubon Center. The classes, held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays in February, are aimed at the beginning painter and those who may want to try something new. It will introduce simple techniques while observing wildlife mounts. New students as well as those continuing from the fall session are welcome to register.

Instructor Jose Acevedo uses art to explore the natural world and finds inspiration in the wildlife of the Midwest. His paintings use a combination of transparent watercolor paints and inks. Acevedo is also a self-taught wood carver, whose detailed, hand-painted carvings of native birds, fish and other wildlife are featured at local businesses, including Schlitz Audubon and Boerner Botanical Gardens.

Cost: $75 for Schlitz Audubon Center members, $95 for non-members; fee does not include materials. A supply list will be sent to all participants after registration. Location: 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd., Milwaukee. For more information or to register, visit SchlitzAudubon.org/event/nature-watercolor-2.
