Muscle Activation Techniques Improve Patients’ Mobility F.A.S.T.
Emily Yenor
F.A.S.T.—flexibility, agility, stability and tenacity—are qualities that patients can experience via Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) therapy, offered by physical therapist Emily Yenor of 1212 Bodyworks, in Brookfield.
MAT is a systematic, whole-body process that was developed to identify and correct muscle imbalances due to muscle weakness. The modality helps the muscle system work more efficiently through a combination of hands-on techniques and gentle, precise exercises. Patients can experience increased strength and endurance, improved range of motion in bones and joints; improved muscle contractions for more graceful, fluid motions; and better support for static and dynamic activities.
Yenor graduated from Marquette University in 1999 with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. She has worked as a physical therapist in Illinois, Wisconsin and California. She earned MAT certification in 2010 and, according to Yenor, is currently Wisconsin’s only physical therapist practicing MAT.
