Meet the Farmers at Local Farmer Open House

Those interested in supporting locally grown, farm-fresh food can meet Wisconsin farmers, learn about community supported agriculture (CSA), hear about their growing practices, learn about subscription options and network with other foodies at the 15th annual Local Farmer Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 11, at the Riverside Park branch of the Urban Ecology Center.

There will also be workshops throughout the day: CSA Basics at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. will explain how CSAs work and provide information about forming a workplace CSA. Cooking From Your CSA Box at noon and 12:45 p.m. will share ideas on seasonal cooking, food preservation and more.

The Milwaukee Public Museum will also host the Farm Fresh Pop-Up Museum, where attendees can share maps and photos of family farms, weekly newsletters from their CSAs, and stories about connections to farming and local food sources. Lunch will be available for purchase from Milwaukee Localicious.

Admission is free. Location: 1500 E. Park Place, Milwaukee. For more information, visit Facebook.com/events/1702149886768952.
