To raise awareness and help veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), A Better Me float spa, in Menomonee Falls, is offering 30 percent off all float sessions for veterans. The discount includes packages and memberships.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, up to 20 percent of veterans that served in Iraq and/or Afghanistan suffer or have suffered from PTSD. Float therapy is designed to promote relaxation through a feeling of weightlessness achieved by mixing 200 gallons of water and 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt.

The benefits of float therapy are thought to include improved sleep and mental clarity, reduced anxiety and depression, muscle relaxation and the replacement of magnesium, which has pain-relieving properties.
