New Expo Showcases Benefits of a Vegan Diet

Milwaukee’s first Veg Expo, presented by Citizens United for Animals (CUFA), will take place at Hart Park, in Wauwatosa, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 7. The free event will feature renowned speakers including activists and health professionals, as well as exhibitors and plant-based foods.

“As more vegan options appear on restaurant menus and in grocery stores throughout Milwaukee, and as awareness grows about the negative environmental impacts and ethical problems with modern animal farming, many people are exploring alternative diet options,” says Tim Schwartz, one of the event organizers. “Even people in the medical profession are declaring that a plant-based diet reduces cholesterol levels and significantly reduces the risk of heart disease.”

CUFA is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting and defending animals’ inherent right to live free from suffering, abuse and exploitation. The volunteer-run organization exposes cruelty in the farming, clothing and entertainment industries. It also rescues and re-homes dogs and cats in the Milwaukee area.

Location: 7300 W. Chestnut St., Wauwatosa. For more information, call 414-517-8439, email [email protected] or visit MkeVegExpo.com.
