Outpost Natural Foods Co-Op received a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification in Building Design & Construction from the U.S. Green Building Council for its newest store in Mequon, located at 7590 West Mequon Road, which opened in May 2014. The LEED certification program, which recognizes best-in-class building and strategies, rates factors such as water efficiency, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.

Outpost’s LEED-certified Mequon store features sustainable assets including zero-runoff storm water management; energy-efficient LED lighting; recycled and up-cycled construction and design materials; underground water catchment cisterns; an electric vehicle charging station; innovative wastewater management of retail water islands; raised garden beds; and water-efficient native landscaping.
