The 2015 Indian Summer Festival, the largest in North America, will take place September 11 through 13 at Maier Festival Park, in Milwaukee. The theme for this year’s festival is “Gathering of the Clans,” and examines the social and political systems of the Great Lakes tribes. Indian Summer Festival highlights traditional and contemporary American Indian music and dance, lifestyle and customs.

The Living Cultures area will feature clan-based programming with storytelling, dance, artisan demonstrations, games and dance performances. The program is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funding by the state of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Festival favorites returning this year include contest Pow Wow; lacrosse demonstrations; music and dance; traditional villages showcasing tribe culture and diversity; traditional foods such as frybread, Indian tacos, bison burgers and wild rice; and grilling demonstrations using Native American foods.
