Wisconsin Green Building Alliance to Integrate with U.S. Green Building Council
The Wisconsin Green Building Alliance (WGBA), a nonprofit dedicated to facilitating and promoting ecologically sustainable practices within the built environment, has combined forces with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) on a mission of transforming the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous surroundings that improve the quality of life for all.
“USGBC’s goal is to have green buildings for everyone within a generation. Today, the majority of Fortune 500 companies are utilizing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System as the standard within their buildings,” says Doug Widener, director of community advancement at USGBC.
“However, we still have a long way to go until LEED principles are included within all segments of the built environment including buildings, infrastructure, green space and our communities,” he notes. “Through this integration, we are able to be more strategic and work together more effectively to meet our shared goals.”
