Wellspring Inc., in West Bend, will host a spring gardening prep event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 17. Organically grown seedlings such as tomatoes, herbs, kale, ground cherries, eggplant, tomatillos, broccoli and peppers will be available for purchase.

Gardening workshops scheduled throughout the day include Composting 101, Soil Health and Nutrition, Growing Nutrient-Dense Veggies and Creating Food Forests. Local and sustainable gardening supply vendors will be on-site, including Purple Cow Organics, which will have compost and potting soil available.

Wellspring is a nonprofit education and retreat center and organic farm that has a mission to inspire and teach people to grow, prepare and eat healthy food, transforming food systems and building community. Wellspring has three main program areas: the community-supported agricultural farm, the educational programs and the conference and retreat center. The center has offered programs in wellness education, ecology, gardening, the arts and personal growth since 1982.
