Workshop Teaches How to Make Healing Salve from Medicinal Plants
Shannon Francis, founder of Resiliency Training, will teach individuals how to identify wild, medicinal plants and use them to make a healing salve in a hands-on interactive workshop, scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., July 20, in Greenfield. Participants learn how to infuse the plants to harness their medicinal qualities and take home the salve to use immediately. If weather permits, the class is held near a permaculture garden that contains many of the medicinal plants.
Francis has taught outdoor education for the Peace Corps, YMCA and several state parks. She is currently an outdoor survival instructor for the Department of Recreation for the cities of Greenfield and Milwaukee. “July is the perfect month to learn about medicinal plants, because many are in full bloom and ready to harvest,” she enthuses. “You’ll leave this course feeling empowered to create your own salve for bug bites, cuts, abrasions, eczema, acne and psoriasis.”
Cost: $15 per person, includes refreshments and salve. Location: 5858 S. 43rd St., Greenfield. For more information, call 262-515-5331 or email [email protected]. To preregister, visit ResiliencyTraining.net.
