Victory Garden Initiative is selling tart cherry trees and hazelnut bushes as part of its Fruity Nutty Campaign to cultivate more fruit and nut trees in the city. Orders are being taken now for spring delivery and make a lovely holiday gift. All trees are sourced through a local company, Johnson’s Nursery. Victory Garden Initiative is also selling holiday gift certificates good for services such as garden consultation, installations and permaculture design.

“With the holiday season about to get fully underway, we want to make Natural Awakenings readers aware of alternative, creative gifts for their loved ones,” remarks Program Coordinator Jazz Glastra. “Fruit and nut trees are an excellent source of sustainable, healthy and low-cost food, yet they require relatively little maintenance. Invest in a tree once, and you will feed yourself and your neighbors for years.”
