Olive, Fine Organic Living, Expands Space
Olive, Fine Organic Living, has expanded its shop by roughly 700 square feet, with a renovation headed up by General Contractor Tim Nowlen, designers Lyn Falk and Holley Bakich, and Andrew Pace and Michelle Haglund, who sourced green building supplies and products through Waukesha’s Green Design Center. The expanded space is connected to their current location on Downer Avenue, with an entrance on Hackett Avenue, just east of Downer.
Olive is the brainchild of Grafton native Michael Katarincic, a former attorney, who felt strongly about making changes in his community and his own lifestyle. With a mission to bring eco-friendly alternatives in apparel, personal care and home goods into the mainstream marketplace, he opened Olive—starting with a shop in Mequon, in 2008, and relocating it to Downer Avenue in 2011.
The expanded store now offers paint, stains, sealers, flooring, plaster and countertops, plus a variety of latex, innerspring, latex-free and wool mattresses. The showroom is the only place in southeastern Wisconsin where shoppers can test organic mattresses and view the most sustainable building products and home goods available before purchasing them.
