National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey Promotes Clean Transportation
The Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey will be celebrated with activities October 25, including an AFV Tour, in Milwaukee, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., and an AFV Show, in Oconomowoc, from 4 to 6 p.m. The free AFV Tour promises a ride on a propane-powered bus and visits to sites offering propane, biofuel, electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) alternatives, including the General Mitchell International Airport Amtrak Station Building, AmeriGas, Fusion Renewables and Discovery World.
The AFV Show will feature neighborhood electric vehicles; a home-built, electric motorcycle; the all-electric Nissan Leaf; the plug-in, hybrid-electric Prius; and a hybrid-electric utility truck. Also present will be several local environmental organizations, alternative fuel vehicle experts, an electric vehicle designer and companies that have incorporated alternative fuel vehicles into their fleets.
“Today there are more alternative vehicle options than ever before,” comments one of the event’s organizers, Lisa Geason-Bauer, president of Evolution Marketing. “As of June 2012, Wisconsin residents were able to begin purchasing all-electric, street-legal, zero-emissions cars. This is an excellent opportunity for the public to talk with individuals who are using the alternative transportation technologies.”
