Milwaukee Startup Launches Online Marketplace
Offermation, a Milwaukee-based online start-up company, is on a mission to localize and democratize online advertising. The company provides an online marketplace for local businesses to connect with online publishers (news sources, bloggers and social media users), as well as customers. Companies use the website to create customized deals on their own terms and to set up a financial incentive for local publishers that promote the deals on their websites or through social media. Publishers pick deals to share with their subscribers and social connections; consumers discover and purchase the deals they find through the online media.
Founders Matt McElligott, Dan Vilione, Greg Meier and Mike Luedke developed the website as a simple solution for business owners that want to create online deals, while maintaining control over costs. In general, online daily deal coupon programs have emerged as successful advertising tools, but some small business owners have been frustrated by inequitable exchanges and rigid terms required by the programs. With Offermation, each dollar a local business spends on advertising not only earns a new customer, it also stays within the local community, helping build a stronger local economy.
Offermation is a product of the Milwaukee/Madison technology incubator and accelerator 94labs, which helps entrepreneurs like Offermation’s founders turn ideas into profitable companies.
