Finding Wholeness in the Midst of Everything with Julian of Norwich
Spiritual day retreat with Rev. Mark Burrows in Racine, Wisconsin
We long to find ourselves gladdened by the inner music of Julian’s Gospel of Love. She knew that all the “notes” of our lives—some in the major key, some in a jarring, discordant minor—are part of a larger symphony, the “marvelous melody of endless love.” This melody is what we yearn to know in our lives, and can if we learn to listen deeply enough. In the marrow of our souls, we long to experience the deep, abiding grounding of this love, in and through the fiber of life and death. This love began before the beginning, and holds us—and all beings—everlastingly. Without end. It is the refrain shaped by her deep conviction that “all shall be well”—amid our failings and sorrows. Here is where our longing for wholeness finds its power, where our healing begins, and where the melody of God’s endless love “happens” in and through us.
