Mindfulness of Peace Workshop: Preparing for Peace

On May 1, 1992, Rodney King made the iconic plea, “Can we all get along?” In today’s political and social environment, the question is more compelling than ever. Let’s say that “getting along” equates to a peaceful, cooperative and harmonious community. What if people prepared themselves for that kind of community? What if they were intentional about laying the groundwork for a place to live where all people were safe, had their basic needs met and enjoyed respect for their human dignity? How does one manifest this worthy vision and prepare for peace?
A Place To Be Spirituality Center, in Saukville, will host the Mindfulness of Peace Workshop on Thursdays, October 3, 10 and 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. During this workshop, mindfulness practitioner and teacher Mary Evangelista will take participants on a meditative and interior exploration of conflict, both internal and in the world around them. Attendees will explore the idea of world peace through the lens of mindfulness and participate in activities and practices to help along the way. The workshop aims to show how practicing mindfulness strategies can forge the path to global peace. A suggested donation of $50 includes all three sessions.
Location: 166 W. Dekora St., Saukville. Interested individuals can register online at APlaceToBeSC.org or email [email protected]. Becca Surges, executive director, can be reached at 262-277-1928.
